Packing List; summer and winter

Be prepared for your trip to Preikestolen, with our packing list. The hike itself takes four to five hours up and down, and is a total of eight kilometers long. The stretch has an elevation increase of 500 meters and some sections are quite steep. Parts of the trip to the Pulpit Rock run in rough terrain, and we recommend footwear with solid sole and good ankle support. The pulpit occasionally experiences strong gusts of wind, and apart from hot summer days it is colder on the top than in the parking lot. The weather changes rapidly in the Lysefjord, so be prepared for wind and rainfall even if you start the trip in the sun.

At Preikestolen Fjellstue you can rent footwear, suitable outdoor clothes, crampons and other hiking equipment. In addition you can buy packed lunches, snacks and drinks for the trip.

And of course it is the best place to have a nice meal and stay for a night or two. We can recommend more activities.
